Second review: The more I wear my sample, the more it grows on me. I can't believe I wrote it off as a headachy "70s perfume". I could still smell the hints of more complex florals, and the nice woody, mossy base, but only as the merest suggestion. I recently got a current edition of this, wanted to see how it compared to the 1970's version. I found this little bottle at Ross for very cheap. I have to Admit at first I did not like this fragrance it was too old fashioned for me, something I would give to my grandma, but as the notes started to develop, I cannot get enough of it!! I have both vintage versions, and all I get from them is musty overripe peach and a tiny hint of vinegar. Okay, i got an old version in a mini bottle. I don't immediately smell 'white flowers" I smell more yellow/pink flowers if that makes sense. I wore this back in the 80s and have a distant memory of it being feminine, pretty, rich without being heavy - a little lady-like but not old fashioned. The sillage and longevity on the skin are moderate. Super-gorgeous. All time classic and one of my favourites! What a lovely fragrance. The scent I experienced was nothing like I remembered. Can I see why it would give many perfumistas a headache? You CAN overdo it with this, so apply sparingly. So creamy and yummy. Very rich and long lasting. Not dated but definitely different and "perfumey", this - amongst others of course - is the smell of a woman. I respect and worship Uncle Karl and I love the history of this perfume, and especially love reading everybody's amazing stories below, but this is suffocating to me and doesn't settle into my skin or become my own scent in any way. It smells outdated, like a grandma that has been soaking in a tuberose-bath for a week. I wore it today and it was just surprisingly modern to me, still relevant. A touch of coconut gives an opaque-ish finish. Truth be told, I don't get any tuberose in this- I get much more aldehyde, orris root, rose, lilac, honeysuckle and musk. Even after many years it smells the same. Chloe Chloe also known as the original (Ive been told). Absolutely. I don't get the sharpness of the EDT in the pure parfum. It seems to last longer on my clothes than my body. i am glad i finally got to try this after all these years, but it's not really for me. That said, this most recent reincarnation is certainly better than the first reformulation I tried, which was nothing like the original. WayOvertheMoon Wore this in my teens, and actually was shocked to see a bottle of it at TJMAXX the other day. This scent is not for everyone but I love it! Even the design of the bottle, with its soft curves and lily-shaped stopper, was criticised. Not for those who like sweet scents, you will find zero sweetness in this. I first had this is the mid to late 80's while attending college. My mother has worn this for years. Not light but then that's what a classic French perfume was originally like. I'm not sure if I'd ever wear it myself--it may be too sweet or too floral for me--but I'm pleased to have it in my collection. I have never had the pleasure of experiencing the Karl Langerfeld version. Today's Chloe (the one in the square bottle) I find to be just wretched. It did not wear HER. I tested this at the store today and not a fan. Ad from shop RockinDRDesigns I used to wear this as a teenager, so when I saw a bottle nostalgia got the better of me. :). Creamy and a little powdery, but not overly sweet. It was a bitter-type aldehyde that did not evolve into anything more appealing. I would say this is more of a fall/winter perfume. Ad from shop ItalianRetroBoutique While I certainly like the Narcisse better this one has a charm all its own and the cute bottle with the while calla lilly stopper brings back memories of an advert in the 80's with a woman applying the perfume with the stopper. I just knew what I thought smelled good, and that was more than enough for me! Chloe is a mystic scent to me.. It's a very pleasing fragrance with a white floral base. From what I can remember, it would be a very dated frag now, but I'm sure some people still enjoy it. I like them both a lot. It reminds me of Elizabeth Taylor Diamonds and Emeralds a bit, very orange blossom honeysuckle. Definitely not a safe blind buy, a true vintage lover would appreciate it. discontinued myst I can't believe I've never tried Chloe before. Thank you Chloe for making this piece of pure art! I let it sit on my skin awhile and then I took a whiff again, the soapy-ness was still there but it started to fade and I could definitely smell the Aldehydes in there. Captcha failed to load. its a shame they discontinued the old formula.it was a beautiful strong creamy floral scenti just loved it.the re-created version im sad to say just doesnt cut it..smells to chemical for me - it lacks the creaminessand where the heck are the aldehydes lol - not in the re-created versionand the beautiful honeysuckle & tuberose in the original just doesnt shine in the re-created version.i think its time for this one to be put to sleep lolbut i do love the "new" chloe (in the square bottle ) & the whole "new" chloe line - which is nothing like this recreated version - so dont get them confused :). Terrific projection, very soothing and definitely "old school". A beautiful composition of jasmine, lilac, tuberose, and carnation. narcisse Didn't know it was still manufactured! The white floral aspect makes it clean feeling. I love it! The woman who wears this is confident, feminine, intelligent, romantic. It appears that the old version is back though, or as close to it as I remember it, so I purchased a bottle of the new EDT for old times sake. Definitely a big white floral. I remembered CHLOE as being a cool, spicy floral with a somewhat soapy tang at the beginning. I got in the car and opened it and spritzed my wrist. She used it every day but I remind specially the great occasions whenever she wore a fancy gown and gloves for a wedding or a dinner party. Here it is an hour later and it has mellowed out a bit, to a more green/lush blend with the floral. Everything is better the second time around especially perfume. I have lately been wearing it to bed and it's heavenly to me. I just got this from my mom. I got a vintage Chloe, 50ml, like the above bottle but def a Lagerfeld box. It is a reminder of Guess jeans, penny loafers, big shirts with shoulder pads and perms (and rooster bangs). I sniffed the bottle and it smells good but seemed it was missing something warm and deep and the top was a little brassy. You have to remember when the so called old people wore it they were then young. I was so disappointed. Fortunately, I love this type of sweet, nectary peach and tuberose. Love- hate this one. Got this one in a blind buy from eBay when it came as a package deal with the sister fragrance Chloe Narcisse. There was a problem subscribing you to this newsletter. My father bought my mother a bottle of this in the 80s, and I associated it with watching her put on her glamorous dresses and do her hair before she went to some fabulous event with my dad, who was a travel writer in the 80s. So, on this rainy day in MayI have decided that Chloe will no longer hold a place in my perfume wardrobe. The new formula bears almost no resemblance to the one I used to wear in the 1970s, except for the top notes, maybe. The seller might still be able to personalize your item. This was my teenaged aunt's favorite perfume. My grand mother's fave, my aunt's fave. This is tuberose with enough warmth and fruity complexity that it can be worn anytime, day or night. I find this unisex. I hated this scent for like a million years. I found this perfume by accident. I would be happy to trade the big 3oz bottle I have with somebody or do a sample swap bc it is a classic, and if it works on you, a great bargain that smells expensive! I may be one of the few people who would prefer the new formula but I am guessing as I havent smelled it. I am actually quite upset that I am not getting the beautiful fragranced loveliness that is being told over and over again. 10/10. I smell a deep honey. I tested it two days ago - one spritz on the back of my hand. :). It became flowery as well. When the formula was first created it was not a cheap scent at all and sold in nice department stores. My mother used to wear this back in the day and had a bottle of the original formula until a few months ago, I believe. It was quite nice in a sense. I was even a little nervous about Chloe! I was wondering if I was going to like it at all, as some of the reviews are poles apart but for me this was love at first sniff. Chloe is such an uplifting, gorgeous scent :-). It's a mature white flowers round smell, its sweet but not sticky vanilla-cotton candy kinda sweet. The original for me, was college in the 80's and the rest of that decade. Mostly for sentimental purposes, as it was one of the fragrances my mother would wear (and I frequently stole from her medicine cabinet for a spritz) when I was a child. I have a feeling I will be enjoying this perfume through the winter. I can smell the flowers, but the aldehydes, oakmoss, and carnation give it a peppery green edge. Its a warm, yellow floral (tuberose, I'm told,) that is pillowly soft, with a little bit of sweetness and touch of spice. Perhaps I should hunt down the original Lagerfeld version. This smells like what I expect a French perfume to smell like. It opens with bright aldehydic peach and floral galore. But I love it for what it is - a heavy explosion of sweetened tuberose that now comes to me full of znostalgia from a time when I didn't care about the art of perfumery. I have a thing for vintage or old school fragrances that standout from the infinite sea of sweeties lining modern shelves. Cecita is still sold in Brazil, though diluted by many reformulations (it was a very potent scent, beloved by Brazilians in the 80s and early 90s, since at that time foreign perfumes were unbeliavably prohibitive to the population and Cecita had great longevity , projection and sillage). Theres something about it, possibly the tuberose combined with peach, that makes it smell a little like sunshine. lol My Poison and Paloma Picasso are like that. My. In summer, it's not too overwhelming to me, especially with only a spritz. I liked it at first, but then there is some note in it (maybe the lilac?) From shop VintageItalienstyle, ad by SalvageStudioStore Chloe will always be on the market as it is a very fresh and elegant scent. Yes, definitely. I can still feel it through memories and imagination. Notes are for a vintage BethCo EDT spray the opening is straight out of a can of Aqua Net, but I dig it. The aldehydes were ALL I could make out other than a hint of what smelled like dead carnations. I also had dusting powder, which was gorgeous!!!! A very pleasant, enjoyable scent, just not the classic powerhouse I was hoping for. To my surprised, it's heavy white florals and powdery. This perfume as well as other perfumes like Halston and Passion remind me of my chic grandmother a.k.a. Upon first spritz, the aldehydes dominate and I get a non-sweet peach accord as well. There's also carnation flowers and roses. I bought the reformulation for the sake of having the bottle, but the scent itself is hideous. My friend wears this scent and it is deliciously floral and spicy on her. A great scent for those who want long lasting, classical fragrance on a budget. It's not too fruity but just enough for me. I don't like it, i loveeee it! By the way, this package and bottle I got were exactly as pictured and as much as I can recall the scent is very much like the "original," at least to my nose. Good bye Chloe.today I used the last drop of my vintage flanker. Recently I smelled Chloe at a discount store, and it smelled cheap. From shop TheArtofReUSE, ad by luola If you want to smell exactly like hotel bar soap, go for it. Oh! Lol!! I want a bottle! It's a very 80's fragrance and I just hated when they changed the formula and ended with this classic. Not many in HS were wearing Chloe, but I do remember the scent as an older sister wore it at one time. I remember an orange blossom, lilac and pleasant musky ambery smell to it. It tells all those teen frags, hey grils, this is how you are sweet without being dessert. The bottle is just as yawningly boring too lol. After a hectic/stressful day you come home and start a nice warm relaxing bath, sip some wine to unwind and let go of your days worries. this starts off all white florals and tuberose. perfume shoulders cologne There are plenty of old school 80/90's perfumes I still enjoy but my definition of feminity is more along the lines of the lovely French women with pencil skirts and silk blousesthey are timelessI doubt French women in the 80's used Sun-In and electric blue eyeliner with pink hair mascara pulled through their bangs. This review is for the vintage Lagerfeld EdT. It has a vintage aura that makes me feel pretty in a retro, red lipstick, sorta way. Tried as part of a Sephora sample box a coworker generously passed on to me - I'd previously sprayed my wrist at a department store and pretty much promptly forgot about it but this time, I sprayed the tiny spritzer on my chest/neck and WOW, what a difference! My high school boyfriend's mother wore this, and it really suited her. What a difference time has made in fragrance geared towards the young. The original Karl Lagerfeld pour homme in its current formulation suffers from the same issues as this one. It smells fruity, elegant, strong but at the same time so soft. This is lovely. I could not get rid of it quickly enough. This, along with Rive Gauche and Cabochard, were probably my first perfume true loves. 5. I just found the EDT at TJ Maxx at too good a price to pass up, since I've been wanting to try this for a while. However, they can't be "too old school." Sometimes it reminds me of the type of pre- Raphaelite ladies in the paintings with long ringlets and gauzy dresses in flowerey meadows. But I'm not perfectly ladylike every single day:). I knew from the color that this is going to be a heavy one. I recently bought a vintage mini parfum and it is exactly as I remember it. I bought this fragrance on sale and I don't love it. Dont see this option? It reminds me of college and happy times. It smells like a professional woman aged 30 and above.
