The $999 JackRabbit is in one of these fuzzy areas between e-bikes and other e-rideables. But taking it one step further, Tern outfitted it with its innovative rack that lets you park the bike on its tail, meaning it takes up barely more space than a coat rack in the corner of a room. The build of the Comp alloy model we tested is mostly great for the price and contributes to its overall performance. CSC paired it with a big battery, quality suspension, hydraulic brakes, built-in lighting, and more to create a high performance and high-quality adventure e-bike. No ads. The trek Rail isn't exactly agile, but it is plenty capable of powering up and over anything in its path. Between the fast 28 mph speed, comfortable ride with front suspension, nimble yet thick three-inch tires, and the powerful 800W peak-rated motor, the bike combines high performance with an awesome price. Again, it worked better than expected, but concessions were clearly made to keep the price down. It uses the same motor as the CSC FT1000MD we featured above (the Bafang M620 mid-drive), but cranks up the current to provide closer to 1,500W of power. Either way, youre not in Kansas anymore. YT's Decoy 29 also really impressed us with its versatility and well-rounded downhill performance.

This e-bike offers a much more upright ride for a fun, relaxed vibe. This 29er has 140mm of travel with a 150mm fork and a seriously long and slack geometry. It more or less feels like an electric bike based on its ride geometry. We tested this metric primarily based on feel instead of scientific measurement, and our testers could all notice the differences between the various models. Plus that mid-drive motor offers tons of torque for climbing hills or accelerating quickly. The Commencal Meta Power TR Team scored relatively well in this metric, with a small digital display mounted by the stem. The Range Extender battery fits into the bottle cage of the Levo SL adding 160Wh to the 320Wh internal battery. At the same time, it's very stable with enough travel to confidently handle just about anything most people would consider riding down without feeling like a handful in mellower terrain.
VanMoof is known for making elegant and techie e-bikes that are designed for commuters and urban navigators. Price and other details may vary based on product size and color. The full-power Turbo Levo Comp was our other favorite on the descents. High quality parts like hydraulic disc brakes complete the package, and the included fenders and rear rack increase the bikes value.
