I know some of you are cropping purists, but when youre using a prime lens, sometimes you just have to crop. But the size here is what attracts many people to it.

It has a nice feel in the hand and design to it, and it has responsive autofocus and good image quality, which is saying a lot for a camera of this price. The first is the addition of a silent shutter and the second is the removal of the red Leica dot on the front of the camera. While the sizes of most of the lenses are perfect (I prefer the F2 lenses for their smaller size), many will be surprised by the weight of the camera. Why it made the cut: The Leica Q2 is a well-built mirrorless fixed-lens camera, capable of creating beautiful RAW photos at ISO as low as 50, thanks to the 47 MP sensor. The size is slightly larger but still exceptional. The fixed 28mm lens means it wont be for everyone, although it does provide 35mm and 47mm-crop options at the touch of a button. Similarly, the lack of a viewfinder may also be an issue to some, but as with the Sony RX100 II you can buy an external viewfinder and pop it into the hot shoe. The colors look great and the image quality is excellent for a micro-4/3rds, but that is the issue that will turn off a lot of people. Although we wouldnt typically recommend a DSLR for street shooting, the 6D has a small enough profile when paired with a nice pancake lens or a nifty-fifty to make it suitable for the genre. As a street photography workshop teacher, I have had experience with all of these cameras and have been able to watch and learn how a variety of photographers have enjoyed these cameras (and dealt with their quirks). Theres no viewfinder built into the body but you can buy one separately if you feel you need it. The flagship Leica M10-P camera is a marvel in design and technology, which it should be for the price, but it does have its quirks that will turn off some. Built around a 20 MP 1 sensor with an impressive 24-200mm lens, the RX100 features a ton of manual controls typically found in larger mirrorless cameras. Although we live in an era where everyone has a camera in their pocket, and its not unusual to see people whip out their smartphones and snap a picture, a true street photographer does their best work by being discreet. Extremely compact and lightweight and sporting a gorgeous design, this camera is built for travel photography and will be very inconspicuous for street work. It does have a 50mm and 35mm, (which is all you need as a street photographer, right? Sonys big issue is that while the cameras are perfect sizes, the lenses can be huge, negating any of the advantages of why someone would want to go mirrorless. Finally, there is the rangefinder focusing of the M10-P, which is a pro for some and a dealbreaker for others, because the camera does not include autofocus. While they may not be best-in-class in certain features, the balance of features and image quality, the attention to detail, and the restraint they sometimes show, makes them a best-in-class camera company. I chose the a7 over the a7r because I do not think you need the features of the a7r for street photography, and it is a much better price at $700 cheaper. Cons: Small sensor size and all that comes with that, battery life, but you can charge the camera directly with a USB charger. Cons:Limited selection of lenses without needing an adapter. This will be fine with small primes, but can be annoying with larger lenses. Olympus M.Zuiko 17mm (34mm equivalent) F1.8, Olympus M.Zuiko 25mm (50mm equivalent) F1.8. To enhance its appeal, it also comes with a 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens that collapses into itself when not in use, which makes it far more portable than equivalent DSLRs. It has a tiny optical viewfinder and a 35mm f/3.5 lens thats extremely sharp when you nail the focus. When selecting a camera for street photography its important to consider things like weight and autofocus capabilities. 
You can purchase one for the hot shoe, however, but I much prefer it without one. It has good autofocus, image stabilization, a flip LCD screen, and a strong frames-per-second rate. The camera has an articulating screen and in-camera stabilization, which is fantastic for street work at night. The image quality is excellent, particularly for the size, and it works very well at high ISOs up to 3200 or even 6400 (although if you shoot like Daido, you arent worried about extreme gain/noise). It will allow you to capture multiple images from the same scene, giving you the opportunity to choose your best shot during the editing process. The first thing to be said about the Sony a6000 is the price. Why it made the cut: The XPro3 is a digital, mirrorless camera with an analog vibe. lambskin Viewfinder: Optical When shooting out on the street, its important to be quick. The Sony RX100 VII is one of the most capable compact cameras on the market. The flash comes as an additional component that attaches to the side of the camera rather than the top. Lens: 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 EZ The XPro3 has titanium top and bottom plates and tactile accents reminiscent of a film camera. Youll also want to look for something lightweight. This is one powerful pocket-sized camera. The mystique of Leica the camera of Cartier-Bresson and many other famous street photographers, but is it right for you? While Nikon mirrorless cameras are very capable, if you are starting from scratch, I would consider other companies, but if you have a set of Nikon lenses that you would like to use (with the necessary adaptor), Nikon mirrorless cameras are much more than capable.
